Mary Anne Berliner Foundation Scholarship

Purpose

The Mary Anne Berliner Foundation's purpose is to provide grants to individuals for study at the post-secondary level. Awards may be made for undergraduate or graduate level study at any junior college, college or university. Trade-school and vocational school awards are also available. High school seniors, current college students and returning adult students who are residents of southeastern New Mexico are eligible to apply. Both one-time and multiple-year awards will be considered.

History and Funding

Mary Anne Berliner established the foundation through her will. She passed away in April 1999, and the foundation was funded in the spring of 2000. Mrs. Berliner was a long-time Artesia resident who led a very interesting life. She lived overseas during the 1960s with her husband, Fritz Berliner, who was a US diplomat. During their years in the U.S. government, Mr. and Mrs. Berliner lived in many countries, including Russia, Thailand, Austria and Hungary, to name a few. Her wish was to benefit as many young women and men from the southeastern-New Mexico area as possible by providing them with educational grants.
